Computer problems! Reading Update

Well, when it doesn't rain, it pours... and it's pouring! My iMac desktop crashed with a vengeance on Monday and I can't get the reinstall program to work. Sigh... it's only three years old and it has all the latest and greatest updates.

I'm taking it to the Apple Store so, hopefully, they can repair it, but that won't happen until the weekend. In the meantime, I'll have to borrow a computer here or there if possible, if not I will post something for you all on the weekend.

Since I have a minute right now, I figured I would do a quick recap on what I'm reading at the moment:

Well, at the moment I'm reading:
  • Scandalous Desires (Maiden Lane, #3) by Elizabeth Hoyt! Yay! It's out!
  • The Son of Neptune (Heroes of Olympus Series #2) by Rick Riordan -- I'm really, really enjoying this book so far. I'm finding it more entertaining than the first one, and of course it's wonderful having Percy's "voice" back.
  • Down These Mean Streets edited by Gardner Dozois and George R.R. Martin -- This is a wonderful anthology where the focus is urban fantasy, the noir private investigator and the paranormal -- a combination of both (UF). But some stories have an emphasis in one or the other. I'm finding the stories quite interesting so far. Not quite what I expected from this wonderful duo.
I do have next week off (from work), so hopefully all the wrinkles will be taken care of at that time. I don't have travel plans for the week, but I do have plans *g*... lots of relaxation, hopefully. I will be around. Hopefully with a computer that works!

  4. Ack! Sorry to hear about your crash! Yikes. We have had excellent experiences with Apple, too so hopefully they'll fix it up for you and hopefully will be able to recover everything on your hard drive if it was compromised. Good luck!

  5. Ugh, it sucks Hils!! But at the same time, it's good it's happening now so you won't have to worry about it during your vacation LOL. If you're going to be busy this week, a bit more won't hurt too much right?

Ohhh, you're reading three excellent books. Can't wait to see what you think of The Son of Neptune! i hope you enjoy it as much as I did! :)

Need to pick up at that anthology...

  6. Ladies, thank you all so much for wishing me the best with my computer!

It works, it works, it works! Yay!

Phyl, I'm reading Scandalous Desires... loving it so far. :D

Lover of Romance, I have a desktop and am thinking of getting a laptop! LOL! A backup just for my own use.

Christine, all was recovered from my hard drive. Thank goodness! Now all has to get backed up. Pheww.

Nath, thanks for your recommendations (on how to get my computer going). We got it done on our own, but I'm still taking the computer to the Apple store for diagnostics etc.

I finished The Son of Neptune! I've been so busy this week trying to finish everything before going on vacation that I didn't have the opportunity to finish off the other two books. But I finished that book last night! Problem? Now we have to wait for the next book until next fall!
