This 'n That: Karen Marie Moning's Fever Series Continues, Hurricane Irene & Reading

Today, Karen Marie Moning posted details about the continuation of her Fever series in her Facebook page. This is what she had to say:
"I'm currently working on a trilogy that features Dani, Christian MacKeltar, Ryodan, and the mysterious 'Dancer,' set primarily in Fever-Dublin. Each installment in the trilogy is a stand-alone mystery, however there are larger plot arcs unfolding in the background. Where Mac was introspective and her story could feel somewhat esoteric, Dani is down and dirty in the streets. Lots of details, lots of action. There’s a different feel to the two series, totally different vantage points. I’m having a blast writing it.

For those of you who have been worrying—the trilogy is not YA. If I had to categorize it, I would say it straddles the line between YA and adult uneasily. I don’t pull any punches. It may be controversial in some ways. But whose teen years weren’t? LOL! Many of the questions I left unanswered in the FEVER series are addressed in this new series.

Exciting news: I’ve agreed to write two more books after that. Once the new trilogy is complete, I’m returning to the core story begun in the FEVER series, and will resume writing about Mac, Barrons, V’lane, Cruce, the Unseelie king, the concubine, the Song of Making.

All in all, there are five more books coming about the Fever World!
"
So for those of you who wondered and can't wait to continue reading this series, there's the answer to your question. There's more "fever" coming your way. You can read the whole post here. Please note that the "bold" lettering is mine.

In other news, after a rocky start to the week with an earthquake that shook our area, we are now getting ready for hurricane Irene! Everyone is preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. I was actually let out from work early today, even though the sun is shining, because traffic is unbearable and preparations need to be made with time.

I'm making sure that there are plenty of batteries for my flashlights so I can read during the evening if the power fails. Stay safe people!!! Wish us luck!

----------

And talking about reading, I've had a terrible reading month so far! I was away from home for over a week taking care of family responsibilities/emergencies plus an unexpected heavy workload for a summer month, and didn't have time to read at all during that time. I managed to post a few reviews that were already on draft, but I'm behind on those for the month, although I hope to catch up by next week. I'm forever hopeful!!

I am reading and have read a few westerns lately, a speculative fiction anthology and a historical romance novella that I really enjoyed.

----------

Oh, and as an aside [nothing to do with reading], I watched that historical baseball game where the Yanks hit three, count them, THREE grand slams in one game -- Canoe, Martin and Granderson. What a feat! They won the game 22-9 against the Oakland A's.
----------

That's it for my news. Are you looking forward to reading the rest of the Fever Series? How's your reading going this month? Do you like reading speculative fiction? Do you really care that the Yanks hit THREE grand slams in one game? LOL!!!

  1. Eh, I'm not sure how I feel about the Fever books continuing. I'll admit, part of the appeal for me was that it was a series that had a definite end in sight. But now? I sorta feel like I'm getting my chain yanked. Now I'm wondering if I want to get "caught up" on the series or not. Sigh.

And yeah, heard about all those grand slams your Yanks had. Oh, Curtis. My ex-boyfriend. I mean, I know that trade worked out for both NY and Detroit in the long run, but it still kind of hurts.....

  2. Hils,

I immediately thought of you while watching the news the other night about the historic three grand slam Yankees game. I just KNEW you were glued to the TV! LOL

I hope you and yours safely weather the hurricane. Sending out prayers and good thoughts to all in Irene's path. Let's hope she looses her steam.

  3. Wendy, you expressed my exact thoughts about the Fever books. It was a 5 book series with an ending. But, I know I won't be reading the reading the rest... for me it's a case of enough is enough. *g*

Ahhh, I always think of you when I see your boyfriend Granderson on the screen making a great play, hitting a HR, and I definitely thought of you during this game. He's on the run for AL MVP for RBIs this year! You know how to pick'em Wendy. :D

Indie, I arrived home from work in time to see the good stuff! Just when they were making their comeback (they came from behind). It was a slugfest and I don't usually like those games, BUT this was definitely a special game. Love those. :D

Thanks for your good wishes and prayers. We'll be keeping safe and hoping for the best. Hugs.

  4. I'm sorry about the bad reading month! I'm always feeling like I'm so behind with my reading too :P

    *sigh*

And best of luck with Hurricane Irene, here in Mexico we have had some rains, but I don't think Irene hit us (or will hit us) directly. Hope everything turns out okay. Though I have to confess we Mexicans did laugh a little about your earthquake, we have five pointers pretty often :P

  5. I'm hoping you and your family are safe!

I still haven't finished Mac's series. But hey, more to look forward to, right?

Sorry August wasn't the best reading month for you. Let's hope September is better. :P

  6. Hope you and your family are all OK and safe from Hurricane Irene!

Sorry to hear August wasn't a good reading month - fingers crossed for September!

Haven't read the Fever series. I don't like cliff-hangers so am steering clear :)

As for the Yankees? Didn't know, but here it's rugby, rugby, rugby :)

  7. Alex, thanx. Sorry it took me so long to answer... it went through the hurricane just fine, unlike so many others. We were lucky. LOL on the earthquake. ;P

Ames, I'm glad you're enjoying Mac's adventures. Here's more for you... August is not done yet, so I'm still hopeful. ;P

Orannia, we are all fine. Thank you. We were lucky.
LOL on the Yankees... I totally understand. *g*

  8. I can see Dani's story leaning towards YA but Ryodan's or Christian's? Nope. I'll probably end up reading them because I do like the world and I like those 3 characters (don't remember who Dancer is). But they'll be library reads.

Sorry, don't really care about the Yankees. LOL But I'm happy for you. :)

  9. Leslie, I guess it all depends on when Dani's story takes place. For some reason I'm having a tough time thinking of any of these stories as YA though -- even with Dani as a protagonist. I'll look forward to your reviews of the books. :D

LOL on the Yankees. Thanks. ;P

  10. Three grand slam in one game?!? Gosh. It is indeed historical....

Glad you're safe and was not affected much by Irene. LOL, 2011 is a year to forget weather-wise for your region, Hils! Snowstorms, then earthquake and tropical storm?!? Who would have thought LOL.

Now, tell me, what good books have you been reading?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Nath, it was an awesome feat! I couldn't believe it... those three grand slams. *g* You KNOW what a fan I really am. lol!

Thank you. 2011 has been one of those years weather-wise. Let's see how this winter treats us. :D

What books have I been reading lately? Well, let's see...
Speaking Out - LGBT YA Anthology edited by Steve Berman
Leah and The Bounty Hunger by Elaine Levine - Western
Snowflakes & Stetsons ANthology w/Cheryl St. John
Temptation Island by Lorie O'Clare - Erotic Romance
The Temperance of Men by Sarah Monette & Elizabeth Bear
It's Always Been You by Victoria Dahl
The Book of Want by Daniel A. Olivas
Right now I'm reading Supernatural Anthology with Larissa Ione, Alexandra Ivy, Jacqueline Frank and G.A. Aiken.

    That's what I've read lately. :)

  13. How was It's Always Been You??

Nath, It's Always Been You was "ok"... *g*

  15. Hils, glad you guys weathered the storm okay. Can you believe we're facing several days of steady rain ahead of us this week? I can't believe it. :(

Interesting news about KMM continuing in a Fever side series. It makes sense since there were so many loose ends with many of the characters.. I'll probably read them, although I'll probably look for them at the library first.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Thanks, Christine. The weather continues to boggle the mind... we need a break so our area can dry out!

I wasn't really surprised about KMMs announcement, were you? It was pretty obvious after reading that last book. It's good for all the readers to hopefully get answers. I liked Danny's "voice" in the Fever series and am looking forward to reading reviews about her story. Getting these at the library... smart move. *g*
