New Releases: November/December 2010

Wow, almost end of year! Again I've decided to combine new releases I'm looking forward to reading for the next couple of months: November and December. I don't have too many books on my list, but the ones I do have are the sure thing.

When it comes to genres, this time it seems as if I have one of each and some books are by some of my very favorite authors. In my list I'm including Happy Ever After, the last book in Nora Roberts' gorgeous contemporary romance Bridal Quartet series; Play of Passion, another installment in Nalini Singh's Psy/Changling paranormal romance series; the amazing looking cross-genre anthology Songs of Love and Death, which includes fantasy, science fiction and romance, edited by George R. R. Martin and Gardner Dozois, this is not one I'm missing; Marry Me by Jo Goodman, a historical romance that looks sweet and it's set in the West; and The Duke & The Pirate Queen by Victoria Janssen an erotic romance by an author whose writing style I enjoyed earlier this year and want to try again.

Play of Passion by Nalini Singh
Release Date: November 2, 2010

Passion and reason collide with explosive force in the newest installment of Nalini Singh’s “mesmerizing”* Psy/Changeling series. As a conflict with Pure Psy looms on the horizon, two powerful wolves fight a far more intimate war of their own…

In his position as tracker for the SnowDancer pack, it’s up to Drew Kincaid to rein in rogue changelings who have lost control of their animal halves—even if it means killing those who have gone too far. But nothing in his life has prepared him for the battle he must now wage to win the heart of a woman who makes his body ignite…and who threatens to enslave his wolf.

Lieutenant Indigo Riviere doesn’t easily allow skin privileges, especially of the sensual kind—and the last person she expects to find herself craving is the most wickedly playful male in the den. Everything she knows tells her to pull back before the flames burn them both to ash…but she hasn’t counted on Drew’s will.

Now, two of SnowDancer’s most stubborn wolves find themselves playing a hot, sexy game even as lethal danger stalks the very place they call home…

As you can see I've highlighted a bit of everything on my list. What about you, any good recommendations for November and December? What books are you looking foward to reading?

  1. I can't wait to read the Roberts and the Singh.

    Is the Goodman a contemporary? I can't tell. :)

  2. Tracy, those two books are at the top of my list too. The Goodman is a historical romance. But I know what you mean, the cover and the blurb are a bit confusing.

  3. Definitely Happily Ever After!!!
I wonder if I can get on the list at the library NOW... LOL!

Nalini's book, too, but I'm still a few books behind in the series, so I can wait for that one.

I'm intrigued by Songs of Love & Death. I love star crossed lover stories... although with that author line up... I don't think they're romances with HEAs. What do you think?

  4. In the interests of full disclosure, I am a good friend of Maria Zannini. That to one side, however, she has a cracking SF romance out. It was released this week (I know, it's not Nov or Dec but I don't know if you've heard of it) and is called TRUE BELIEVERS. She's doing a tireless blog tour to get the word out (I don't know where she has the energy!), so I figure a little help here wouldn't hurt! :)

Maria is great at doing mash-ups. In this one, we have alien commanders, duelling AIs, archaeology, and ancient gods. The link to the book is here:

Happy reading to all who pick up a copy. I read it pre-release and loved it!

  5. You've got some good ones here! I'm also looking forward to the Roberts and Singh.

I like the look of that GRR Martin anthology, and am intrigued by the Janssen historical.

In Nov and Dec, I'm also waiting for Bone Gods (Black London #3) by Caitlin Kittredge, Stranger by Zoe Archer (the period, location and hero and heroine look really interesting!) and JL Langley's With Abandon.

  6. Parker & Mal - can't wait!

The Duke & the Pirate Queen - I like the blurb but haven't read anything by Janssen. And the cover, love it! It definitely gives you a feel for the story. Cool that she has the tattoos. :)

The next In Death comes out on November 2.

  7. The Roberts and Singh for sure LOL. The next In Death book... Oh, the Jodi Thomas too :) Actually, November is a good month. There are a few other books, but you'll have to check our BT new releases post to find out :)

    LOL, you're one that really enjoy the anthologies ;) I just saw Jim Butcher name in that one ^_^;

    Oh, and is it me or in the cover of The Duke & the Pirate Queen, the woman has tatoos on her leg, but it looks like hair ^_^;

  8. I think I'll make time to re-read last year's Goodman to get ready for the new one. Can't wait for that! I'm on the reserve list at the library for both the Roberts & the next In Death book.

Here's a book I'm quite interested in--it's due at the end of December. "The Lady Most Likely" is a collaboration between Julia Quinn, Eloisa James, & Connie Brockway.

And we won't talk about yesterday, will we :-(

    ReplyDelete
  9. Christine, I'm intrigued by Songs of Love and Death also. LOL, going the the title of the anthology, the blurb and looking at those authors, I won't expect sweet HEAs all around! But... I'm certainly looking forward to some great stories. ;P

Kaz Augustin, thanks for stopping by and for sharing Maria Zannini's new release with us. I checked it out and it DOES look good. I do love my scifi. :)

Renee, yes... the GRR anthology looks great, right? I'm not missing it, and I liked the one book by Janssen I read.

I just purchased Warrior and Scoundrel by Zoe Archer, if I like them Stranger will definitely make it to my reading list too. I'm still behind on Langley's "With" series, but that With Abandon will ALSO make it to my list at some point. :) Enjoy your reads!

Leslie, I really like the cover for The Duke & The Pirate Queen too. I've read one book by Janssen and enjoyed her style, but I most say I'm really liking the the blurb on this book, a lot. :) And lucky you! You're up to date on the In-Death series, I'm still on book 7? Holiday in Death... :)

    ReplyDelete
  10. Ha Ha Nath, you know I'll be reading your BT list. LOL, I DO love my anthologies... I seem to keep finding good looking ones and this one seems to good to pass up. :) And hair? LOLOL!

Phyl, I loved last year's Goodman! I'm really looking forward to this one too. :) Thanks for the heads up on the collaboration between James, Quinn and Brockoway, I'll check it out. :)

No, we certainly won't talk about last night. That was... [sigh]

  11. I'm really excited about the Goodman.

In general, I've preferred the Psy/Changeling ones in which one partner is a Psy (conflict!), but I still buy them all, and it'll be fun to see more of Snowdancer. It feels like it's been a while.

I keep finding recs for new the Roberts series; definitely need to check it out.

  12. Good picks. We have lots to look forward to over the next two months!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I already pre-ordered the digital copy of Happy Ever After although now I am thinking of also buying the book once it's out. I have the other three and they were very pretty to collect. It's the most anticipated book of the year for me! I'm sure Parker...I mean't NR will not disappoint me.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Victoria, I'm looking forward to the Goodman also!

Great argument for Psy/Changeling pairings. I like both. The Changeling/Changeling pairings are too hot to ignore. *g* RE: The Roberts's books. This is NR's return to straight romance after a long time and we're all excited, lol! Hope you enjoy it too.

Ames, thanks! I'll be checking out your picks at BT and will probably take some from there too. ;P

Natalie, I know. I pre-ordered the print copy of Happy Ever After! I can't wait to read the end of the Quartet. PS: I bought the 1st book in eformat, and then ended up getting it in print so I could have the collection -- they're SO beautiful.

  15. Oh, want the Goodman!!

I must be the only person alive who hasn't read the Singh series or the new NRs.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Lori, I know! I've been waiting for another release from Goodman for a year. :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. I can't wait to read Play of Passion, but...I need to read Bonds of Justice first...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Oh, you need to catch up Orannia. We're getting close to Hawk's story! I don't know if you'll love/like BoJ the way I did, but there's a lot going on in that book that you definitely need to know before proceeding with the series.
