NJ Bloggers Meet, and a Mini-Haul

August is over and so are the lazy days of vacations and summer!

Last month was definitely a lazy month for me -- fast reading and slow-blogging -- but I did do at least one exciting bookish thing. Last week, our small New Jersey bloggers group met again. Christine, Mariana, Natalie and I met at the Cheesecake Factory Restaurant in Edison, New Jersey for dinner, yummy desserts and a long afternoon and early evening of conversation where we exchanged thoughts and books. Afterwards we went to the Barnes and Noble next door and had a wonderful time browsing and book shopping.

Of course we all forgot to take pictures -- again! It's too bad because all the ladies looked great, especially Christine who looks fantastic, all the biking and jogging really paid off. :D

Did I buy anything? A tiny haul, lol! This time Mariana gave me a copy of Tangled Up in You by Rachel Gibson, and although Games of Command by Linnea Sinclair is already part of my TBR in ebook format, I decided to purchase a print copy. I've come to the conclusion that I prefer reading Sci-Fi in print. So there were only two new releases in my mini-haul. :D

Thank you ladies for everything, I had a wonderful time!

  1. I had a great time too! I hope we all meet often. And that slice of chocolate cake was delicious.

And oh yeah, it's crazy to buy book in print when you already bought it in digital. But of course, we all are crazy so let's all crazy away!

I forgot to mention that I had my camera in my bag at that time and I totally forgot all about it too! Ughh!!!

One day I'm going to find time reading SciFi. Of course I'd have to start with Ann Aguirre -- don't make pronounce her name because I couldn't get it right all the time. Perhaps I'll give myself a try with Linnea Sinclair too. I realized (though might be too late compared to you and others) that it's fun to mix my TBR with different genres and different authors. It gives me a variety of taste and writing style, experience and helluva of exposure.

okay, i'm going to shut up now...this morning coffee is making me something something...

  2. Aren't blogger get togethers fun? I just love seeing (as my hubby calls them) by book friends and talking about books as well as so many other subjects. I'm so glad you all had a wonderful time. Sounds like it was fun.

    And nice haul btw! :)

  3. Natalie, the desserts looked yummy. I'm sorry I didn't order any. I did love the taste I had of Mariana's Red Velvet Cheesecake. :D Thank you for everything Natalie, (especially for that ride!!!). :D

I know... I'm nuts for buying the print copy when I have the ebook. Right? I hope you enjoy Science Fiction Romance. I know you were having some problems with Grimspace. Maybe if you began with another author, it might make it easier. I can send you a list of suggestions. :)

Tracy, they really are fun! The face to face discussions are the best kind and book shopping? What can I say? LOL!

  4. I had such a great time hanging out again, too! Isn't it great that we pulled this one together in just a few days, too? Sometimes those last minute plans work out best.

And aww.. thanks for the little shout out about my "new and improved" body. LOL. ;-)

Can't wait to hang out again soon! xoxo
