I'm back! Vacation, Friends & RWA '15

Hi all! I've been away for two months! Much has happened. I was hospitalized for a stubborn kidney stone (that was darn painful!) and under the weather for most of June, recuperated nicely, went back to work, and then on to a much needed one week vacation. I returned last weekend relaxed, rested, and ready to blog again.

My favorite beach. Long walks, sun, swimming, reading, resting!
This week Nath, her sister Emilie, friend V, and Ames are down from Canada to attend the RWA 2015 Conference in NYC, and we have been hanging out, going to dinner, and having a good time. I did not attend the conference and missed Literary Signing and Wendy's Bar Bash on Wednesday, but luckily Friday night was able to meet up Ames, Nath, her crew, and KristieJ for dinner and later had a fabulous time at the hotel bar discussing books and conference highlights with Wendy, KristieJ, Rosie, Nath, AmesJessicaL.B. Gregg, and more. Wendy and KristieJ recommended a nice long list of western historical romances by authors Maggie Osborne, Patricia Potter, Rosanne Bittner, and Maureen MaKade.

Ames, Hilcia, Nath, V, Emilie

Wendy, Rosie, Nath, KristieJ
I have been reading on and off throughout these past couple of months. Expect a short(ish) update highlighting standout reads soon.

  1. Ouch! I had a kidney stone once. I hope I never have to repeat the experience. And I hope you don't either.
I'm so glad you got to go into the city and see everyone. I was following along on Twitter and very jealous of you all :)

    1. Phyl, I don't want to repeat the kidney stone experience either. Ouch indeed!

It was wonderful sharing at least one evening with the ladies at RWA! That hotel was packed with romance readers and authors. It was a great sight to see. :)

And yes! We had a great time. It's always great to sit down, catch up and just talk books and romance. :)

I loved meeting the ladies, and like you, I'm also catching up with the RWA blog posts. I missed the rest of the fun. :)

  4. It was beyond wonderful getting to spend time with you. A love of romance, all things romance, creates a such a strong bond that is even stronger with my everyday friends. Romance reading is such a part of our souls so we share a part of our souls.

  5. Hi Hils!! I was so happy to see you and see with my own eyes that you were doing so much better!!

It sucked that you missed the conference and literacy signing, but I'm glad you were able to come and hang out with us :)

Oh, you'll have to send me all the pictures you have of us, Hils! :P

I'm hoping that this trip will have rejuvenated me and will get me blogging again! :P

    1. Hey Nath! Thank you so much. It was so great seeing you again under happy circumstances. I had a fantastic time with you and the girls. But you know, it's never enough. I feel as if we didn't have enough time to talk, and we talked a lot! LOL.

I will send you the pictures! I have some lovely ones of you and the girls, Ames, Christine, and Mariana during our dinners and lunches. I used the one above because I realized that it is the only I have where I'm included! LOL.

I hope you come back to blogging too. Our visit together inspired me to begin again with this short post. :)

  6. Ouch! A kidney stone? I'm doubled-over in pain just thinking about how you must have felt. Glad you're all better now, and that picture of the beach is simply breathtaking. I would have stayed there forever.

I'm so glad you were able to come out on Friday night and see us! There was a nice contingent of bloggers at this year's conference and I think it's good for all of us to get together every now and then. I know I always feel rejuvenated afterward. LOL - and of course KristieJ and I went on a western recommendation frenzy. It's what we do :)
